Stretch marks

Stretch marks are unpopular with women, but unfortunately they can hardly be avoided. Fortunately, there are some tricks to promote the fading of stretch marks after birth. While facial skin often looks fresher and smoother during pregnancy, it looks very different in hidden regions. On the stomach, thighs, breasts and buttocks, snake-like fine stiffeners can form between the fourth and sixth month - the so-called stretch marks.

Every second pregnant woman affected

Every second pregnant woman has this weakness of connective tissue, which often shows itself before a pregnancy in the body parts that are, for example, in a diet more weight and size changes are overturned: These are often thighs or arms, the breasts or the abdomen. What the eye does not enjoy is the result of a useful body.

Cause of stretch marks

In pregnancy, the connective tissue is heavily stressed by weight gain and enlargement of the abdominal girth. Therefore, it automatically expands with it. The collagen-containing fibers of weak connective tissue do not always withstand this process. At particularly stressed parts of the body, they then tear, resulting in blue-reddish streaks, which fade after birth. Remains of varying degrees silvery shimmering scars remain.

Regular massage against stretch marks

In order to prevent stretch marks, you should massage your chest, stomach, buttocks and thighs regularly at the beginning of pregnancy. By circular movements, by kneading and plucking the blood circulation is promoted and strengthened the elasticity of the tissue.

For plucking massage, gently grasp small areas of the skin with your thumb and forefinger, lift them gently and let them go again. These will take you about five minutes daily. How about if you always think about it before falling asleep? Many women swear that the massages with regular use (at least twice a week, better every day) lead to success.

However, there are also women in whom the weakness of the connective tissue is improved by the massages, but stretch marks nevertheless occur. From the ninth month on all women only a very gentle massage of the abdominal region is recommended because too strong massage attacks can cause contractions.

Even warm showering is good for the blood circulation as well as the skin metabolism. In addition, it is possible to take care of the endangered regions while showering with a special massage washcloth. Always end the alternating warm shower processes with a cool cast.

For further support

To strengthen connective tissue, pharmacies offer special massage oils. Most of them contain unsaturated fatty acids such as almond oil, jojoba oil, wheat germ oil and sunflower oil. In some products, the oil of Arnica blossom, safflower or Centella asiatica. In addition to the herbal ingredients, the majority of products contain silicon or hydroxyproline.

Enriched with orange and rose petals, there are also products for sensitive "pregnant" noses. Please note, however, when using massage oils, that you no longer use your gynecologist one week before an ultrasound appointment, because the quality of the examination otherwise suffers.

Your breasts can also be supported with a well-fitting bra. Even a balanced diet can reduce the consequences of stretching. In any case, conscious feasting during pregnancy is important as more cell substance is built up. Therefore: eat a lot of vitamin C, vitamin E and protein, they provide elasticity, stimulate cell renewal and blood flow.
